TYRE. Phoenicia.Shekel, 10/9 B.C. (?). Laureate Melqarth head r. Rv. Eagle standing l. on prow, PIZ and club in left field - the second letter blundered and could also read as Λ, KP and monogram in right field. Meshorer argued that all Tyrian Silver struck from 18 B.C. onwards with the letters KP were struck in Jerusalem, but today this is largely not believed to be the case. Cf.RPC 4647. Shallow struck obverse with some scrapes on chin. Very Fine. PCGS Genuine. (300-400)
